Ry is a relationship-building app that helps couples strengthen their connection and communication. We recognized that technology has disrupted many aspects of our lives, including our relationships.
With Ry, we wanted to create a platform that would leverage technology to make it easier for couples to build and maintain healthy, loving relationships. Our app provides tools and resources to help couples communicate effectively, express appreciation and affection, and deepen their emotional connection. We believe that strong, healthy relationships are the foundation of a happy life, and we're dedicated to helping couples achieve that.
What’s your background and how did you come up with the idea?
My background has always been in entrepreneurship, and I've always been passionate about creating products that make a positive impact in people's lives. Previously, I ran a business in England selling electronic cigarette liquid. I was known for selling the purest quality liquids in the world, and to this day, no one has matched the quality of my products. My motivation behind this was simple - electronic cigarettes are often used as a healthier alternative to smoking, so why not make them as healthy as possible?
The idea for Ry came about when I realized that there was no private and intimate platform for couples to share their memories and experiences with each other. Social media platforms were not suitable for this purpose, as they lacked the level of intimacy and privacy that many couples desire. So, I set out to create Ry with a focus on providing the best user experience possible for couples who want to share their memories and stay connected in a more personal and meaningful way.
Talk us through the early stages of the business, how did you get your first customers?
In the early stages of Ry, I focused on building the app and creating a solid user experience. Once I was confident in the product, I started marketing on social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. By creating posts and running a few social media campaigns, I was able to reach my first customers.
I also received a lot of positive feedback from my early adopters, which helped spread the word about Ry through word of mouth. Additionally, I have been reaching out to influencers in the relationship niche and offering them written blog posts about their insights on relationships on our website in exchange for promotion on their posts. This has been a successful strategy in attracting new users and building Ry's reputation in the relationship community.
When brainstorming I realized the potential of using AI as a business partner to bounce ideas off each other and come up with new ideas that have not been thought of before. It's a new and amazing concept that I believe is a piece of history in the making. With the help of AI, I was able to refine and develop Ry's features with total user satisfaction in mind. I'm excited to share this process with others and will be making TikToks and other social media posts about this soon to promote how I have built a business with AI.
Are you generating revenue?
As an MVP, we're constantly learning from user feedback and adapting the app to better suit their needs. While Ry is a new business, we have high projections and targets for the year, with the aim of becoming a global brand with a large audience.
At present, Ry is completely free to use, and our next step is to seek investment to help us acquire more users and expand our brand awareness. We're excited for what the future holds and the potential for Ry to become a leading platform for intimate sharing between couples.
What marketing channels are working well now to acquire customers?
Currently, our most successful marketing channel for acquiring customers is through social media, specifically Instagram and TikTok. We have been creating engaging content and reaching out to influencers in the relationship niche to promote our app to their followers. This has been very effective in bringing in new users and increasing our brand awareness.
In addition, we have been using SEO strategies to improve our website's visibility in search engine results. We are also in the process of implementing a referral program to encourage our existing users to refer their friends and family to Ry.
As we continue to grow and expand, we plan to explore other marketing channels such as paid advertising and email marketing to further increase our user acquisition.
What’s been your biggest achievement?
That's a great question. I would say that my biggest achievement with Ry has been the overwhelmingly positive response we've received from everyone who has heard about the app. During my previous business ventures, there was always some negative or constructive feedback during market research, but with Ry, it has been incredibly validating to see that everyone loves the idea. It's a great feeling to know that I've hit on something that has resonated with so many people, and it motivates me to continue to work hard to bring the best possible product to our users.
What’s been your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge with Ry has been marketing and getting new users on a limited budget. As a solo venture, I have had to rely on creative and cost-effective ways to promote the app. While social media has been helpful in spreading the word, I've had to find new and innovative ways to reach potential users. This has required a lot of research, networking, and trial and error.
One approach that has worked well for me is reaching out to influencers in the relationship and tech niches to promote Ry in exchange for content or other promotions. Additionally, I've been exploring various grassroots marketing tactics, such as guerrilla marketing and community events.
Overall, marketing and user acquisition remain a top priority for me and Ry, and I'm excited to continue exploring new ways to reach and engage with our target audience.
Any advice for new entrepreneurs just starting out?
If I were to tell myself in the past, I would tell myself to surround myself with successful people. I've come to realize that your success is often tied to the people you surround yourself with. Being around people who are already successful can be incredibly motivating and inspiring, and you can learn so much from them.
One strategy I've found helpful for meeting successful people is to visit high-end hotels or bars. You don't necessarily need to have a room there, just go and order a coffee at the bar. Eventually, you'll start talking to more affluent people, and you can learn from them and even create a network.
Another piece of advice I would give myself is to read more. I've found that reading entrepreneur books has been incredibly helpful in my journey. I invested in an Amazon Kindle, and I try to read as much as possible in my spare time. It's amazing how much you can learn from successful entrepreneurs who have gone through the same struggles you're going through now.
How do you keep yourself motivated?
I have a mindset that I call an unbreakable mindset. I firmly believe that with the right mindset, anything is possible. To keep myself motivated, I start my day with a routine and then work very hard to achieve my goals for the day. I also make sure to give myself time to relax and think of new ideas for Ry and other potential businesses.
In addition, I have specific things and goals that I want to achieve in life, such as owning a luxury sports car and eventually moving to Dubai. These goals keep me focused and motivated to work hard and grow Ry into a successful business.
What are your plans for the next 6-12 months?
Our plans for the next 6-12 months are to continue growing Ry's user base and expanding our brand awareness. We are focusing on implementing user feedback and improving the app's functionality and user experience.
We also plan to seek investment to scale our operations and marketing efforts. We want to launch Ry in more countries and target specific user demographics. We believe that Ry has the potential to be a global app, and we are working hard to make that a reality.
We are also exploring partnerships and collaborations with other businesses that align with our values and goals. We want to create more value for our users and offer them more features and benefits.
