GPT Prompts Platform Hits $500 MRR with 300+ Users in Two Days

My name is Frederic, and I am one of the co-founders of Promptflat.com. With my business partner Philipp, we created Promptflat.com, the Netflix of Chat GPT prompts.

More specifically, it is a subscription-based platform providing users with over 4,500 GPT prompts. Our platform allows users to rewrite the text, e.g., create code lines, write business plans, or generate exciting stories with Chat GPT.

Tell us more about Promptflat

ChatGPT is freaking awesome if you know how to use it. Most people use it for simple things, like asking Chat GPT for a joke. But Chat GPT is so much more than that.

You can literally use it for anything in your business, like copywriting, sales emails, website creation, recruiting, teaching, SEO, and Math equations, to name just a few.

Chat GPT prompts are like recipe cards for AI language models. Just like how a recipe card tells you what ingredients to use and how to prepare them, a chat GPT prompt tells an AI language model what kind of response you want it to generate based on the input you provide.

By using prompts, you can fine-tune the output of the AI to suit your needs better and get more accurate results. It's a powerful tool for anyone working with AI language models.

We recognized that many people struggle with writing high-quality prompts. There are quite some marketplaces to buy prompts, but this can cost you up to 20$ per prompt, which is expensive for beginners.

We wanted to provide a one-stop shop with a wide variety of an ever-growing prompt database included in the monthly subscription.

Our prompts cover a broad range of topics, from creative writing to business communication, making them suitable for a wide range of users, including writers, marketers, educators, and anyone looking to improve their writing skills.

What’s your background, and how did you come up with the idea?

Philipp’s and my background is creating and selling various Notion templates, e.g., for content creation and SEO.

We started building a Twitter audience around our templates, and that's how we got started in the world of digital marketing.

As we continued to grow our following, we began to explore different ways to leverage our skills and expertise to create even more value for our community.

That's when we discovered the incredible potential of Chat GPT technology. We were fascinated by the possibilities of this cutting-edge AI technology, but we also recognized that there was a significant challenge in getting high-quality results. We soon realized that the key to unlocking the true potential of GPT technology was carefully crafted prompts.

After experimenting for several months and generating thousands of prompts, we developed a formula to create high-quality prompts at scale.

We decided to turn our formula into a platform, and that's how Promptflat.com was born. Our goal was to provide a valuable resource for anyone looking to improve/scale/start their business and unlock their full potential as communicators.

How did you get your first customers during the early stage of the company?

The early stages of our business were both challenging and exciting. We started by building our prompt database, which we handcrafted based on our experience with Notion templates for content creation and SEO.

Once we had reached 100 prompts, we decided to give them away for free to share our insights with the community.

We were thrilled that the response was overwhelmingly positive, with over 750 downloads in less than 24 hours.

Encouraged by this early success, we decided to double down on our efforts to develop a comprehensive database of prompts that could help users overcome writer's block, generate new ideas, and improve their writing skills.

We spent hundreds of hours experimenting with different prompt formulas and identifying use cases primarily with Chat GPT technology. We identified and categorized the use cases to systemize the prompt database.

Once handcrafted and tested 4,500 prompts, we conducted rigorous quality assurance testing with ten industry experts.

These beta testers confirmed our business case, and we knew we had a valuable resource that could help users in a variety of industries and applications.

With this validation, we decided to convert our prompt database into a subscription-based platform that would continue to grow every month by adding new prompts.

Our users can suggest necessary prompts, and we will handcraft and add them to our ever-growing database. This approach has allowed us to build a loyal customer base of writers, marketers, and communicators who rely on our platform to improve their skills and unlock their full potential as communicators.

How’s the business doing now?

We're thrilled with how our business is doing now. Recently, we launched on Product Hunt, and the response has been amazing.

In just 48 hours, we achieved a $500 MRR along with 300+ unique users (free and paid), which has given us the confidence to scale our business further.

We plan to increase the number of prompts in our database to 10,000 within the next two months. We're currently in the process of hiring prompt engineers to help us speed up the process, as well as intensifying our marketing efforts.

We're proud to say that our software stack is quite slim in terms of monthly costs (120$/mo), giving us plenty of room to grow while staying profitable from the beginning. With our commitment to providing high-quality prompts for Chat GPT technology, we're confident that our business will continue to thrive.

Presently, what marketing channels are working well to acquire customers?

We believe a successful marketing strategy should involve a mix of short-term ignition and long-term funneling techniques.

For our short-term ignition approach, we have found that leveraging freebies and beta testers has been extremely effective in gaining initial momentum and building a community of early supporters.

By offering a free bundle of notion templates with a bunch of free prompts on Twitter, we have generated interest in our product and give potential customers a taste of what we have to offer.

Additionally, we have used beta testers to help us refine our product and gain advocates for our brand. These beta testers have been instrumental in spreading the word about our product and building buzz around our launch.

For our long-term funneling strategy, we want to take a hybrid approach that involves active campaigning on various platforms, such as Twitter and our website, as well as content marketing through articles, SEO, and backlinks.

By consistently providing valuable content and resources to our target audience, we believe in establishing ourselves as a thought leader in the GPT space and attracting a steady stream of potential customers.

Finally, we also plan to use dosed paid ads on Google to drive targeted traffic to our website and convert those visitors into paying customers.

What has been your biggest achievement so far?

Our biggest achievements so far have been two-fold. First, we're incredibly proud of the success of our freebie prompts, which received over 750 downloads in less than 24 hours.

This overwhelming response proved the concept of our idea and showed us that there is a real need for high-quality prompts for Chat GPT technology. It was a pivotal moment for our business and gave us the confidence to continue investing in our idea.

The second achievement is related to our ability to crack the prompt syntax. This allowed us to scale and systemize the creation of prompts, cutting down the prompt creation process from 45 minutes per prompt to just 2 minutes, plus testing.

This huge accomplishment has allowed us to create a vast database of over 4,500 prompts that our subscribers can access. We're constantly adding new prompts every month based on the feedback we receive from our users, and we're excited to see where this will take our business in the future.

Overall, we're incredibly proud of what we've accomplished so far. We're excited to continue growing our business and providing a valuable resource for anyone who needs to overcome business challenges, e.g., writer's block.

What has been the biggest challenge in your journey?

Our biggest challenge has been educating people about the concept of prompts and how to use them effectively.

As a new technology, there is a lack of understanding in the market, and we need to provide foundational education to potential customers.

To overcome this challenge, we have developed various resources, such as blog articles, video tutorials, and case studies, to help educate our audience and demonstrate the value of our product.

Additionally, the nature of the technology is very dynamic, and we need to constantly monitor and adapt to changes in the industry.

As machine learning and natural language processing continue to evolve, we must stay up-to-date with the latest developments and be ready to incorporate them into our products.

This requires a lot of research and development, which can be challenging to manage while also growing the business. However, we see this challenge as an opportunity to innovate and stay ahead of the curve in the industry.

What’s something you know now that you wish you had known when you started?

Looking back, we wish we had known just how powerful network effects can be when building a social media presence.

We underestimated the amount of time and effort it would take to build trust and gain traffic in the online space.

In the beginning, we faced what's known as delayed gratification, where we spent an enormous amount of time developing something, but we didn't see immediate results because no one knew or trusted us yet.

We quickly learned that building a strong online presence takes either time or money, but you can't succeed without at least one of the two.

We wish we had understood the importance of building our social media presence and online network from the beginning, as it would have made the process of gaining initial traction so much easier.

Also, connecting with your audience speeds up the process of reiterating ideas quickly to figure out which ideas will work vs. which ones won’t. So, definitely spend the time on building an audience first or at least in parallel!

What advice would you give to new entrepreneurs?

We have learned that starting is the most important step to success. Often, people get bogged down in the planning and strategizing phases and never take the first step. Our advice is to start small and build momentum by taking consistent action toward your goals.

Don't let the fear of failure hold you back. Failure is a necessary part of the journey, and learning from it and using it to improve is essential.

Additionally, we believe it's important to deeply understand the problem you are trying to solve. It's easier to create a product or service that people will want and use if you have a personal connection to the problem.

So, take note of the problems you encounter in your daily life and think about how you can solve them. You don't need to come up with a revolutionary idea; often, small solutions can have a significant impact.

And remember: the first version of your product or service doesn't need to be perfect. Just get started and iterate as you go.

How do you keep yourself motivated?

Staying motivated as an entrepreneur can be challenging, especially when facing setbacks or obstacles. We have found that it is important to focus on the bigger picture and remember why we started in the first place.

We believe in our product's value and its impact on our customers, which drives us to keep pushing forward.

Another key to staying motivated is to maintain a growth mindset. We view failures and mistakes as opportunities to learn and improve. By constantly reevaluating and iterating on our ideas and strategies, we can adapt to changes in the market and stay ahead of the curve.

Finally, it is important to have a support system. Surround yourself with people who believe in you and your vision, whether mentors, colleagues, friends, or family. Having a network of people to bounce ideas off of, seek advice from, or vent to can make a huge difference in maintaining motivation and momentum.

What are your plans for the next 6-12 months?

Our vision for the next 6-12 months is focused on expanding our platform and providing even more value to our subscribers. One of our main priorities is to continue building our database of chat GPT prompts, with a goal of reaching 10,000 prompts in the following months.

We also plan to improve our platform's functionality, user interface, and overall user experience to ensure our subscribers have the best possible experience with our product.

In addition to these technical improvements, we also plan to focus on growing our community of prompt engineers and artificial intelligence enthusiasts. We are excited to launch our prompt engineering academy, which will provide a comprehensive learning experience for those who want to become No-Code / Prompt consultants.

Our goal is to help people leverage AI in impactful ways and create a new generation of prompt engineers who can use our platform to build amazing products and solutions. Finally, we plan to expand our marketing efforts and reach out to more potential customers to grow our monthly recurring revenue to $2,000.
